tea@thechurch at St John’s Church, Charlton

cup of teacake

tea@thechurch will be taking a break during August 2017 before starting afresh in September. Traditionally, New Year is the time for starting something new, but I always think that September is equally as good. After all, the summer is almost over; the time of lazy drinks in the garden and BBQs; or, if you are like me, a busy time in the garden keeping the weeds under control, harvesting fruit and encouraging winter vegetables to grow. Thus, September is the time when one can take things a little easier and enjoy the fruits of one’s work. It is also the time when the schools start back, and a new school year begins with children going into new classes or perhaps starting at new schools. So, a good time to start something new too.

If you haven’t been to tea@thechurch before, why not give it a go. A warm welcome awaits you along with tea or coffee and a selection of delicious cakes

Come and make new friends. The older folk who come enjoy the opportunity to sit and chat while the younger folk pop in after school whilst their children have a play. It might be that you like company but prefer to be busy. In that case, had you thought of volunteering to help set up and serve the tea and cakes? We are always very happy to have new helpers. Or perhaps you would like to make a cake for us once in a while?

For more details contact Theresa on 01747 829188, or come along between 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm on Mondays on the following dates:

Do come - and bring a friend too! We look forward to welcoming you.

If you are new to the area and wondering where this event takes place, it is in St John’s Church, Charlton, which is just north of the A30 (before it goes down the hill to Ludwell) in Coronation Close. Click here to see a map showing a location of the church.

Finally, the Tea@thechurch organisers wish you all a very Happy Christmas, and thank all their cake makers for the wonderful cakes that have been provided over the past year.

Thank you.
